St Mary's Catholic School
Bowen

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to St Mary’s School. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to introduce you to our wonderful school and share with you the range of opportunities we provide for the students enrolled here.

Catholic schools are educational communities formed by faith communities.  At our heart is the Gospel of Jesus enacting itself in the world.  For over 125 years, parents of the Catholic Parish of St Mary’s, Bowen have banded together with the help of religious orders and the wider Church to provide an education for our children in which the Gospel values are integral to the education offered.

St Mary’s School offers a comprehensive curriculum which caters for the individual needs of the students. The children are encouraged to reach their full potential with individual gifts and talents nurtured and developed. The staff strive to provide an environment that is supportive, engaging and challenging, where the children feel secure in their learning.

Our school community is a vibrant and welcoming one which encourages parent involvement in a range of activities and school events. Parents are the primary educators of their children and are valued as partners in education and therefore welcomed and encouraged to support teachers in the education of their children.

The children at St Mary’s School are encouraged to respect themselves, others and property. They are taught to be independent decision-makers who care for one another.  Children in our senior classes are given positions of leadership which enables them to develop skills that encourage confidence, leadership and guidance.

We are very proud of our school. We welcome your decision to be a part of our school community.  May your time with us be positive, faith-filled and enriching for you and your family.
