Reconciliation Action Plan

Reconciliation Action Plan

At St Mary’s, we believe that understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives is essential to providing an inclusive and meaningful education for all students.

We recognise the importance of reconciliation and are committed to building respectful relationships and creating opportunities for learning and connection. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) guides this ongoing journey, helping us embed culturally responsive practices into everyday school life and strengthen engagement with First Nations peoples.

What is a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)?
A Reconciliation Action Plan is a formal document outlining an organisation’s commitment to advancing reconciliation with First Nation peoples. It includes practical strategies for building respectful relationships, promoting cultural understanding, and creating opportunities for First Nations Australians. RAPs are designed to drive positive change across all sectors, including schools, workplaces, and community organisations.

Australia’s rich diversity is reflected in our school community, and we celebrate the unique contributions of each individual. Through meaningful activities, events, and partnerships, we aim to honour the enduring cultures and deep connection to Country of First Nation peoples—past, present, and emerging.

St Mary’s has a dedicated First Nations Education Advisory Team that meets regularly to plan culturally significant events, implement and guide our current RAP, and ensure First Nations students and their families feel supported, respected, and represented within our school.
